A Day at Red Rock Canyon

Every time we go to Vegas me or Nick make the comment that we should stop at Red Rock and hike. We have been making that comment for over 5 years. We finally decided to go. It was the kids first time hiking. We first stopped at the visitor center which has all been remodeled. The kids loved it. Avery adores animals and they had some live tortoises. She could have watched them all day and been happy. After the visitors center we started driving. They had so many trails to pick from. Of course we picked the shortest and the easiest.

I had a sling for Kamden and off we went. The kids were so excited and couldn't climb fast enough. A few times I had to remind them to wait for me because I was carrying an extra 20 pounds. Not only was it fun to be together as a family but a great learning experience. Kasen was full of questions. He wanted to know how the rocks got there and why they were red. They were both very intrigued about what type of animals lived there and which ones they might see. It started to get hot so we left and stopped to eat at Island Burger in Vegas. So Yummy!!

Student of the Month

Kasen got Student of the Month in P.E. class!! Coach said he always comes with a smile and is ready to learn new games. He works well with others and is always kind to his classmates. Both Kasen and my self were so excited he got this award. He deserved getting it in my class, but because I was teacher and MOM I felt that I shouldn't. It just always seems to stir up trouble. Nick was able to come and watch Kasen receive his award. It is a surprise and when they called his name his face just lit up with a smile. It was priceless. Kasen also got an attendance award called the Governor's Exemplary Attendance Award. It is for missing 3 or less days in the entire school year. He missed 1 day and that was the day I delivered Kamden. We are so proud of you!

Kindergarten Graduation!

I LOVED teaching Kasen this past school year. It was neat to see how he interacted with his peers and how quickly he picked up on new material that was taught. Kasen had an amazing time learning, making new friends and going to P.E. class. I always thought it was funny when I asked him how his day was. His reply was, "Mom you already know, you are my teacher!"For the graduation I have the kids sing some of there favorite songs, I made a slide show and then we present their certificates. I had 48 students this year and they were a very kind and respectful group of kids. Nick and his parents and grand parents were able to come and watch Kasen. He loved having them there. Kasen looked so cute singing all of the songs. Kasen you are a very smart and funny boy, I am very proud of you!

Threadzfest 2010

Nick planned another amazing event. Threadzfest was bigger than ever. It is a free show at the park. There is a skateboard competition, vendor booths, and about 10 different bands that played. There ended up being about 5, 00 people this year. (This was taken before the bands played)

Kasen loved the rock wall, trampoline and the huge slides. Avery tried each one but preferred to just watch Kasen. Kamden was just a happy camper sitting and watching in the stroller.

It takes Nick a few months to plan Threadzfest and a lot of nights that he has to work late, but I am so proud of his accomplishments. It was a first class event, and a lot of fun to!!!!

Dance Recital

Avery had her first dance recital. She is in the pre-ballet class which is madeup of 3 & 4 year olds. She is one of the youngest ones in her class and did an awsome job. They did a dance to Flight of the Bumblebees. It was ADORABLE! There class is very big and they were one of the better performers. She loves her teacher Mrs. Kathy and asks everyday when she can go back.

Avery loved putting on the make-up and lipgloss, but her favorite thing was the spray glitter. We had glitter on everything for days!! These are some of her friends -upper right hand corner Alina, Briley, Avery bottom left- Avery & Breanne. She is really bummed that we have the summer off and can't wait to go back in the Fall.
